Sri Venakateswara Zoological Park has been established on the modern concepts of Zoo Management where in the animals are exhibited in vast enclosures which are nearer to their natural habitat. The foundation was laid on 29.09.1987 and opened to public on 30.04.1993. Since Tirupati is the abode of Lord Venkateswara this zoo is being developed on Mythological theme by exhibiting animals which have mythological importance and animals found in our ancient scriptures, Puranas and Vedas. The total area earmarked for the Zoo is 2212 ha out of which 285 ha is proposed for development under phase-I. Presently there are 78 different species of animals, birds and reptiles with a total of 1010 specimens for display.
