Botanical Name - Themeda quadrivalvis

----- Themeda, Forsk.; F.B.I. V. 7. P. 213. Themeda quadrivalis, O. Ktze.; Vern. Gaddi Mulwah (Syn. Anthistiria ciliata, Linn).

----- Annual grass, up to 3 ft. tall, glabrous, smooth, simple or branched, base soemtimes prostrate and rooting. Leaves linear, tapering towards the tip, soft, flat, glabrous or hairy; sheath glabrous or hairy, lower lax open, upper closed. Inflorescence a dense panicle of many partial panicles with many bract-leaves and spathodes (boat shaped). Involucral spikelets back covered with bulbous based setae. Awns of bisexual spikelets about 1 1/2 in. long.

----- A common grass in pastures and open land, also met with in dry conditions throughout the State.
