----- A tall perennial grass with solid culms, 4-9 ft. high, erect, leafy, branching from the base. Leaves linear-lanceolate, setaciously acuminate, hispid and green above, smooth and galucous beneath. Margins spinulosely rough, mid rib stout, sheaths loose, often curved with bulbous based hairs in the upper hald. Inflorescence panicle of racemes, terminating the upper branches. Racemes supported by green spathes (except the terminal).
