Botanical Name - Poinciana regia

----- An evergreen handsome tree, native of Madagascar. Very common, planted in gardens and avenues. It has a very attractive and exceedingly showy appearance when in flower, with its clusters of crimson flowers in long compact cylindrical racemes, and vivid and graceful feathery foliage. The wood is soft and is not useful. Flowers scarlet with petals much exceeding the calyx, appearing in the hot season, Fruit a large flat ligulate pod remaining long on the tree.
