----- A perennial erect grass. Culms up to 4 ft., leafy smooth & glabrous. Leaves narrowly linear, finely acuminate, flat, smooth ciliate on the margins beneath, glabrous or hairy. Inflorescence a raceme, often curved, pale purple in colour, upto 10 in. lonog. Consisting of spikelets seated in pedicellate involucels. Bristles of the involucels unequal, scaberulous, those of the inner whorl ciliate on the margins. Rhachis or raceme hairy, often curved.
----- Found in dry conditions specially in Chilka Guttoo north of Pakhal lake and probably elsewhere also on hillocks and rising grounds. Not of any account as a fodder grass.
