Botanical Name - Panicum antidotale

----- Panicum, Linn. Panicum antidotale, Retz. F.B.I. V. 7. P. 52.

----- Tall perennial grass with a creeping often stout and thick rhizome. Culms woody, terete polished, smooth about 4 ft. high. Nodes thickened, the lower sometimes rooting; leaves linear, flat, acuminate; sheath not inflated. Inflorescence a panicle of fascicled branches, filiform, spreading and drooping. Spikelets pedicelled and crowded on the branchlets.

----- Usually in moist places and in limestone localities near Pakhal lake and the southern spur of Chilka Guttoo (Pakhal); said to be ovoided by cattle except when young. It is supposed to be an antidote to hydrophobia.
