A large deciduous tree
which has leaves and pod exactly like those of D. lanceolaria,
but the panicle is much smaller Leaflets
9-13, turning black in drying, 1 in. long, pubescent along mid-rib,
from a rounded base oblong, obtuse, often emarginate. Flowers
bluish-white, nearly sessile, crowded in thort densely brown silky
racemes, these arranged in compact terminal panicles. Calyx
1/8 in. sub-sessile, densely silky ; seeth acute. Corolla
twice the length of the calyx ; the keel much shorter than the
other plants. Pod narrowed
at both ends, I-2 seeded.

The wood is of a peculiar
structure, yellowish-white, soft to moderately hard , in concentric
belts separated by narrow bands of best tissue. The peculiarity
of structure is attributed to hte formation of s successive cambium
ringes ( Gamble ). A very common tree throughout the Telingana
districts, easily recognised by it all stem and smooth grey bark
. In disafforested land it often remains the only tree life standing
, being too useless to cut . The wood weight about 48 Ibs, per
c. ft.
