Habit and branches of
1. Leaves simple, 3-6
in. long oblanceolate-oblong, sub-coriaceous but soft in texture
cuneate at base ; stipules leafy, persistent Racemes
terminal 20-40-flowered, often a foot long. Calyx
1/2 in. ; teeth lanceolate. Corolla
half as long again as calyx, generally purplish. Pod
1-2 in. long, 3/4 - 7/8 in. broad.

Both shrubs are fairly common and
are found in waste lands and open-spaces in the forest in sandy
soil. They yield fairly strong fibre which makes good cordags.
