Perennial tufted grass
with stout erect culms arising geniculately from the base. Sheath
smoth, glabrous, the lower slipping from the culm. Leaf blade
flat, tapering to a fine point. Inflorescence a whorl or 4-20
spikes, 2-4 in. long, at the top of a slender peduncle, often
purplish. Spikelets awned giving the inflorescence a very hairy
appearance.

Found in the blank areas in forests
of Telangana District often in gregarious patches. It is not a
valuable fodder.
