An annual grass often branched from the base with up to 8 ft.
culms, erect or kneeded at the base, terete, smooth, glabrous,
Leaf sheath cylindrical, sparsely hairy. blade almost petioled,
tapering to a fine point, about 2 ft. long, somewhat rigid or
flaccid, glabrous. Inflorescense a panicle, very variable in shape,
small clusters of spikelets in threes seated on a penduncle enclosed
in a sheath. upper lemma of sessile spikelet entire or very shortly
2-lobed awnless. Grain oblong slightly laterally compressed,

Found in dry and stony localities
in open nature of forests. It is considered a fairly good fodder
but opinion of some authers differ regarding this. It is generally
eaten by cattle specially buffaloes when young.
