Gregarious annual grass reaching
a height of about 2 ft.; culms erect or geniculate, glabrous,
smooth. Leaf blade narrow about 5 ft. long. Inflorescence a collection
of pairs of racemes, each pair seated on top of a naked peduncle.
Racemes 1 in. long, jointed, equal in length, divergent, seated
on characteristic cone-shaped pedicles, each 4-angled, hollowed
out at the top. At each articulation of racemes, are one sessile
awned spikelet and also one pedicelled unawned spiklet. This grass
turns red at maturitly.

This is found in the State in B.C. soil specially in Maratwada.
A good fodder and is eaten by cattle, when green or as hay.
